If your weight is greater that 250 to 300 lbs, you may not be able to find a bathroom scale to accommodate your weight. It may be necessary to purchase a medical scale. Medical scales are even more accurate than the new bathroom scales. Although they may be more expensive than bathroom scales, they are worth the price.
Today the scales can also be made to read your muscle mass, water weight, or your fat mass. Make sure you are going to use these functions though before you purchase a scale that has them included. The scales that provide you all this information do cost you more. The digital models are nice that are available today. They are quite easy to read and come in a variety of weight limits. You may prefer these compared to the manual dial ones. Either one can be accurate though.
The bathroom scale is not a piece of equipment that should be used everyday. The best way to track the progress of your diet and exercise program is by weighing yourself once every week at about the same time of day. Weighting yourself everyday can be discouraging because progress with a fitness program can be slow.
If your weight loss is steady, your plan is on track. Remember that the closer you come to your goal weight, the more your weight loss will slow down. If you don’t lose any weight for two weeks, you may need to adjust your diet and exercise program.
Additional features on the new bathroom scales are another indicator of your progress. If you haven’t lost any weight, check your muscle mass and fat mass. If your muscle mass has increased and your fat mass has decreased, you are still progressing. Muscle weights more than fat. Water weight can also disguise your progress.
Make the scales your best friend instead of being afraid to get on them. Use them to help you get your weight to the right level. This will help your body be healthier. This is how to utilize your scales in your fitness plan. Remember the scale is a tool for you to use to reach success.
