Making a First Dance Recital Special
A child’s first dance recital is a very special opportunity for her parents to show her how proud they are of her. Dance recitals show off dance routines that your little one has been planning for all year. Here are some suggestions of how to make your little one’s first dance recital special.
Put an ad in your local newspaper. Many newspapers have extra ad space for birthday wishes, engagement or marriage announcements, and other special events for a moderately affordable price. Wish them luck publicly or tell them how proud you are by placing an ad in the paper on their big day.
Give them flowers after they perform. Flowers are an appropriate gift to give at a dance recital, and they will match with your little dancer’s fun costume. Flowers come in a variety of types and sizes, so you can give her a single flower or a bouquet according to your tastes.
Video record her recital. Some of the bigger recitals will give you an option to buy a DVD of the performance, but video recording the recital yourself will allow you to focus in on your child and really show her off. Recording her yourself will also allow you to post videos online on your blog or on YouTube to show family and friends, without worrying about copyright infringement.
Send out invitations to your family and friends to come to the performance. Invite grandparents, Aunts, and Uncles that will want to come and share in the fun of watching the first performance. You can send formal written invitations, e-invites through email, or simply give them a phone call.
Take plenty of pictures before and after the performance. Have your daughter autograph the program and use it for her scrapbook. You can share your pictures online through email or on your blog.
Plan an After-Recital party at your home. Decorate the home with banners with your dancer’s name on it and decorate with a dancing theme. You can find dance-shaped cookie cutters online, such as at Country Kitchen Sweetart.
Your daughter deserves to be treated special on her big day. By putting forth a little extra effort you will be surprised at how far it will reach. Your daughter will love that you’ve made her feel like a queen for the day.
